Lady Mustangs make quick work of Cotulla

The Lady Mustangs were able to get back on their feet after a disappointing road loss in Jourdanton by dominating Cotulla last Friday night in LaSalle County. The girls in blue outhit the Cowgirls 11-2 en route to a 14-2 run-rule five inning victory.
Freshman Woodson pitched all 5.0 innings, as she allowed two hits, struck out nine giving up two runs, neither of which were earned as the Lady Stangs did have a pair of errors.
Natalia used a base on balls by Taty Alvarado to start things off, before watching KK Lara fly out to CF. Viviana Figueroa was able to belt a triple to score Alvaradoi, before Figueroa’s pinch runner scored on a ground-out by Trista Vera.
In the bottom of the 1st, Woodson struck out two in a row before Cotulla got one of their two hits in the game. Natalia forced an F5 for the third out.
Natalia took control of this game in the top of the 2nd inning. The Lady Stangs used a Woodson base on balls, a Gabby Contreras base on balls, a Mena Figueroa hit by a pitch, a Dezarea Perez single, an Alvarado single, a fielder’s choice by Lara, a big double by B. Figueroa, a Vera walk, a Woodson double and an error put into play by Contreras to score in eight huge runs allowing Natalia to take a 10-0 lead.
Natalia went on to produce three runs in the 3rd and one in the 5th to run away with a 14-2 victory.
Cotulla’s two runs came in the bottom of the 4th, thanks to a pair of errors and a triple.

Upcoming Games
Natalia was open on press night. This coming Friday, the Lady Mustangs will welcome Dilley to town. On Tuesday, April 16th the Lady Stangs travel down Texas 132 as they look to complete their sweep of Rival Lytle.
