Victories have not come easy for the youthful girls in blue, but this has not slowed down this coaching staff and her squad from busting their tails daily to improve.
During their week of non-district action, the Natalia Lady Mustangs (4-13) were able to win two of six games they competed in picking up victories over Sabinal and Runge.
“What a great game,” Coach Tamara Bednorz said, when asked about her teams road win last Tuesday night in Sabinal.
Natalia faced adversity and challenges from start to finish, but worked hard and picked up a three set victory vs. the Lady Jackets by scores of 25-23, 32-30 and 25-18.
“Our girls really rose to the occasion and refused to let this one get away,” Bednorz said.
17th Annual Devine Arabian VB Round-up
Competition got tougher this past Thursday, as the Lady Mustangs traveled to Devine to face plenty of stiff competition in a very competitive tournament.
Natalia stumbled during pool play, as they fell to Fox Tech (26-24, 21-25, 24-26), Brackett (10-25, 25-22, 24-26) and Pleasanton (14-25, 9-25) resulting in advancement into the Consolation Bracket.
For the fourth time this season, Natalia was forced to battle a very scrappy D’Hanis Cowgirl squad in the first round of the Consolation Bracket. Natalia showed the best effort vs. D’Hanis of all meetings thus far, but unfortunately still fell short by scores of (20-25, 25-21, 12-25).
Natalia battled back and staved off elimination, by defeating the Runge Lady Jackets by scores of 25-10, 25-18.
The Lady Mustangs bowed out of the tournament Saturday afternoon, as they fell to Bellville Faith Academy. After defeating Academy 25-23, the girls in blue lost focus and fell 12-25, 15-25 ending their weekend of action.
“We continue to improve with daily goals and small wins within the team,” Bednorz said.
No stats were made available as of press time.
