Lady Mustang track 4th at Pleasanton

The Lady Mustang track team took on strong competition last week at the Brush Country Relays in Pleasanton. Natalia came away with 45 points in the varsity division to place fourth while the JV scored 47 points to also finish in fourth place as a team.
Varsity
The varsity relay teams accounted for 36 points with a third place finish in the 4x400m and fourth place showing in both the 4x100m and 4x200m.
Abigail Fulton, Meg Martinez, Anaya Jones, and Yahdi Lujan ran 4:58.37 in the 4x400m, while Abigail Fulton, Jones, and Lujan were joined by Kylee Spangler in the 4x200m running 1:56.99. Martinez, Lujan, A. Fulton, and Tina Fulong recorded a 56.20 in the 4x100m.
Jones placed in Long Jump as well going 14’6. Val Saenz threw 23’8 in Shot Put, good for 6th place and 57’6 in Discus for 5th overall. Lori Garcia-Ramos threw 50’8.5 in Discus, placing 6th.
Katie Curiel triple jumped 28’1 to earn sixth place.
JV
The JV scored their points much differently than their varsity counterparts. The JV did not have relay teams so they achieved their points from individual places in several events, including four top three finishes.
McKyenzie Flores won the 400m Dash with a 1:11.65, while Ava Sanchez placed sixth at 1:19.12.
Jiselle Gonzales threw 25’2 in Shot Put to win the individual championship and Alexis Flores went 25’ even to place second.
Flores got her gold medal in Discus, throwing 83’8 and Gonzales threw 59’7 to place fourth.

1st Devine 193.5, 2nd Pleasanton 160.5, 3rd Jourdanton 117, 4th Natalia 45, 5th Poteet 36.
JV team rankings
1st Pleasanton 158, 2nd Devine 138, 3rd Jourdanton 89, 4th Natalia 47, 5th Poteet 31.
Up next
Natalia competes in the Owl Relays on Wednesday, March 10 in Hondo. Field events begin at 4:00pm and the 3200m Run at 4:15pm. Running events are tentatively scheduled to begin at 6:30pm.
Location & Parking
The new track is located on the west side of McDowell Middle School. Please park on the south side of the track in the grass lot near the apartments. If this lot is full or if it is wet, there is additional parking available to the west side of the track near the little league fields.
