Devine’s JV offense racked up 46 points in dismantling the visiting Crystal City Javelinas last Thursday at Warhorse Stadium. The Horse’s “D” kept the Javelinas in check by allowing only a single touchdown on the evening.
Offensive play caller Coach Heath Poppe said, “The JV played really well. Gus Puente, Hayden DuBose, Outlaw Walker, Mason Martinez, and Cody Trammell all ran the ball well. The offensive line of Haydn Brumage, D.J. Dzierzanowski, Kannon Ramirez, Zachary Rico, Noah Garza, and Jacob Delaney blocked really well. Ryan Castro did a great job at tight end blocking on the perimeter. Overall great effort.”
“Our defense and special teams played well,” Coach Scott Taylor said. “I actually heard pads popping from the sideline. This group was very focused and showed their potential when they are locked in. Great bounce back from a very poor outing previous week.”
Warhorse touchdowns
According to Poppe, Gus Puente scored twice, Outlaw Walker scored twice, Hayden scored on a touchdown run and on a kickoff return. Cody Trammell had a 2-point conversion and Mason Martinez added one of his own.
