JV Arabians ace out Brooks

With one game left this season, the JV Arabians look to finish strong. They played Fox Tech last night to finish their season. On October 15th, the Arabians faced Holy Cross and added a rare loss to the seasonal record. They turned it around on Tuesday and beat YWLA and beat Brooks Academy on Friday. They headed into their last game 19-7 overall.
The JV had some misses that put them behind Holy Cross on the score board. They lost 22-25 and 23-25. “This was not our best night. We missed a lot of serves and just weren’t as sharp on defense as we usually are. We did some great things on offense though!!” said Coach Leigh Anne McIver.
Karsyn Brown 1 ace, 2 kill. Neenah Guerrero 7 digs, 2 assists, 1 ace. Kaylee Romano 3 digs. Kate Featherly 5 digs, 4 assists, 1 ace, 3 kills. Makayla Rivera 1 kill. Denise Contreras 4 kills. Kelsey Dishman 5 digs, 8 assists. Avery Cruz 4 kills. Maddie DuBose 2 digs, 5 kills.
With the home court advantage, Devine took down Young Women’s Leadership Academy in two sets. “We did a good job tonight of being aggressive on offense. We had more missed serves then usual but the girls pulled it together and were able to take care of the ball on serve receive,” added Coach McIver. The JV Arabians won 25-15 and 25-14.

Friday night on the road, Devine took on Brooks Academy. And in the first set it was Kelsey Dishman who controlled the serving. She served for all 25 points with no rotations and with 17 aces. Devine took the first set 25-0. Brooks stepped up a little in the second set but the Freshmen still won 25-7. “Our offense came from our serving tonight, 28 aces alone. When the ball came back over, we stayed focused and was able to run our offense efficiently,” added Coach McIver.
