Joseph William Petrash

Joseph William Petrash, known to his family and friends as JW and Joe Willie, passed away Sunday, June 23, 2019, at his home in Lytle, at the age of 60.
JW was born September 12, 1958 in Edinburg, Texas to Julius Joseph “Chubby” and Ruby “Jean” Petrash, both who precede.
JW is survived by his wife of 30 years, Julie Ann Petrash; daughters, Audrey Erin Petrash, Morgan Ashlyn and her husband Oliver O’neal Lewis; brother, Julius Roy “Jay” Petrash and his wife Donna; nieces, Jessica Grimes and her husband Charlie, Katie Krenek and her husband Kyle; great-nieces Emilee Korth, Avery Grimes, Lexi Krenek, and numerous cousins and friends.
JW was a graduate of Sul Ross University. JW served for over 40 years as a peace officer, with the majority of those years were spent with the cities of Devine, Alamo Heights, and Lytle Police Departments. He was president of the Oak Park Country Club in Lytle, vice president of the Medina County ESD Board, and an elite member of Brown’s Dominio Club.
JW loved his family and was extremely proud of his daughter. JW also loved being outdoors, especially building things, fishing and hunting. He was very pleased with the improvements he helped come to light at the Oak Park Country Club. JW was also fond of Saturday lunches and Sunday breakfasts with his friends.
Visitation with a Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, July 3, 2019 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Hurley Funeral Home Chapel in Lytle. Lunch will follow at 12:00 pm at the Oak Park Country Club, 15235 Hester Street, Lytle.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made to the charity of your choice in JW’s name.
