James Stanley Payton of Devine, TX passed away at the age of 70 years and 9 months on July 4, 2020. He is survived by his loving wife Pearl Caraway Payton of almost 50 years. Two Daughters Melissa (Robert) Still of Devine & Michelle (Ted) Henrichson of Devine. 5 grandchildren: Carlton Burriola, Camry (Ben) Ward, Hank Henrichson, Macy Henrichson & Logan Still & 1 great-grandson Kaden Ward. Three sisters: Viola Pittman, Elizabeth Caraway & Nellie (Dale) Mc Kay, Sister-in-law Elsie Huschke along with numerous nieces & nephews.
James graduated in 1969 from Southside High School. Married the love of his life Pearl on October 30, 1970. He worked with mechanics all his life; he had a love for life. He truly loved his family, his flowers, all his animals especially his cows and in his past time loved playing cards. He dedicated his life to his family and the service of others. He opened his own business Payton’s Garage and wrecker service on January 10, 1979 in Devine TX. He was in business 41 years & 6 months and in those years he had a number of customers, which became his friends and what he called extended family.
Sadly due to the state limit of the number of people at any gathering there will be no services; however anyone and everyone who would like are welcome to call, stop by or even text.
