James “Jim” Alton Creek

James “Jim” Alton Creek, formally of Bexar County, Texas, passed away peacefully Thursday, February 21, 2019 following a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.
James was born September 9, 1934 in Leaday, Texas, to Freddie Roy and Joe Della (Stephenson) Creek, both who precede him, along with his sisters; Elizabeth Creek, Edith Carnes; and his daughters’ mother, Doris Annette Creek.
He was a graduate of Mozelle High School with the class of 1952. In November of 1954, he enlisted in the United States Army, and proudly served as a sheet metal worker until being honorably discharged in November of 1956. This skill would prove very valuable in his chosen profession of building airplanes. James was a member of the Lytle Masonic Lodge #379 and York Right Bodies of San Antonio. He was also an avid hunter and loved ranching.
James is survived by his loving daughters, Brenda and husband John Lapaglia, Sandra Creek and husband Larry Chernis; grandchildren, Lance and wife Missy Soele, Brandon and wife Jennifer Lapaglia, Erin and husband Jordan Kottler, Patrick Salazar; great-grandchildren, Ryland James Lapaglia, Lane David Soele, and Cordelia Elizabeth Kottler.
James’ family will receive family and friends, Monday, March 4, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., followed by a time of sharing from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the Hurley Funeral Home Chapel in Lytle. Interment will follow at the Lytle Masonic Cemetery in Lytle.
A reception will be held Monday, March 4, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. at Creek’s Red Barn (y’all know where that is).
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research Foundation at their website, www.alzinfo.org.
