Indians dominate Natalia Baseball

The Natalia Mustangs fell to 3-3 in 27-3A last week as they suffered a tough road loss at the hands of the Jourdanton Indians (8-3, 5-2). Jourdanton out-hit the Mustangs 8-0 and forced an additional seven errors on the Natalia defense en route to a lop-sided 12-1 victory.
“We played well early on against Jourdanton, however several errors from our fielders ultimately made the difference in the game,” Coach Kasey Crowther said.
Natalia’s Sonny Rymers took the loss on the mound for Natalia, as he pitched 4.1 innings. He allowed eight hits, walked three, struck out four and allowed 12 runs, only six of which were earned.
After watching Natalia come up empty in the top of the 1st inning, J-Town went to work. They used a single, a base on balls and a three run-homerun by Cole Andrus to pace Big Red, giving them an early 3-0 edge.
Natalia responded with their first and only run in the top of the 2nd as Luis Buentello got on thanks to a dropped third strike. He advanced on a wild pitch and a stolen base before scoring on a pass ball.
Jourdanton took control in the 4th inning, as they produced three additional runs thanks to two singles and a triple.
The Indians finished off Natalia scoring six runs in the 5th thanks to a ton of Mustang errors, one single, and one double to claim the 12-1 victory.
“Our game plan was solid and our pitcher did his job, but we could not make the plays needed to be successful,” Crowther said.
Defensive Put-Outs: Jacob Navarro 6, Xavier Vasquez 3, Manuel Garcia 2, Gavin Martinez 1, Wyatt Owens 1.
