A new summer program designed to encourage children to be active and learn about the game of golf began at the Devine Golf Course on Tuesday, June 18and will continue for four days each week, except a couple of breaks, until Mid August.
The program is for children from ages 5 to 17 regardless of skill level. Everyone is bound to have fun learning the game of golf.
If you would like to try it out for one day, the cost will be $25. The weekly rate is $80 but your $25 one day fee will count toward the weekly fee for that week.
The program will take place from 8:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. Tuesday through Friday for the last two weeks of June, the second, third, and fifth week of July and the first full week of August.
Those participating will learn basic skills (drive, chip, putt, safety and the rules) while playing games, engaging in challenges and participating in the tournaments in addition to having a great time.
All the equipment needed to play golf will be provided. The green fee is included in the weekly fee and the tournament fees for participants are also included.
Bring tennis shoes or golf shoes if available, a hat or visor, t-shirt or polo and shorts. Most of the time will be spent outside. If you have golf clubs, bring them or they will be provided. Also bring sport water-proof spray-on sunscreen that doesn’t require rubbing as greasy hands make it difficult to grip the club.
Outside drink or food is not allowed at the golf course so bring a few dollars for water that is sold there.
