Gilbert Allen Richardson, age 91,of Bandera, passed away on December 5, 2018 in San Antonio. Gilbert was born January 3, 1927 in San Antonio, one of two sons of Clarence Allen Richardson and Anna Mae Davis Richardson.
He attended Burbank High School and also earned his Masters Degree. On June 13, 1945, he joined the Army, serving during World War II. After completing his service in the military, Gilbert worked in civil service, beginning at Randolph AFB, then transferring to Kelly AFB and finally retiring from Tinker AFB in Midwest City, Oklahoma as an electronic technician.
Gilbert married Gladys Rae Albrecht on September 3, 1950 in Victoria, Texas. They were married for over fifty-three years at the time of Gladys’ death on December 22, 2003. Their marriage was blessed with four daughters and two sons.
Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Anna Mae Richardson; wife, Gladys Richardson and brother, Floyd Davis Richardson.
Survivors include his daughters, Karen Richardson of San Antonio, Zela Henderson (John) of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Mary Smith of San Antonio, Linda Richardson of San Antonio; sons, Floyd Richardson (Virginia) of Starkville, Mississippi, Allen Richardson of Las Vegas, Nevada; eight grandchildren, Floyd Richardson (Erin), Candice Taylor, Jay Henderson (Jayme), Brian Henderson (Gloria), Sean Henderson, Nathan Smith, Christopher Michael Smith, Lauren Richardson; and nine great grandchildren, Xavier, Griffin and Fallon Richardson, Jade, Jakob, Julianna and Jenika Henderson, Christopher and Victoria Henderson.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 26, 2018, starting at 6:00 pm at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home, with the Funeral Service held that evening at 7:00 pm. Graveside Service with military honors will be at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at 9:00 am, Shelter #1.
