Family and friends of John and Desta Wofford, of Devine, have started a fundraiser for the family as their patriarch Mr. John Wofford was recently diagnosed with lymphoma and will begin chemo soon.
“Our dad is the hardest working man we know,” said his daughter Destinee (Wofford) Emerson. “He too is the only provider for his household. He has been in and out of the hospital, and he is very weak and will only be getting weaker as he goes through chemo. With this said we are asking for any donations that will help support medical and home bills while he gets through this process and kicks this cancer! Anything will help while he cannot provide for his household as he always has.”
“This is a cancer that starts in the lymph nodes and travels to other organs if not caught. There is a mass that has grown in his stomach that the doctors hope to eliminate through several courses of chemo treatments,” said Emerson.
Mr. Wofford is loved by many. He is the father of 9 children John Paul Jr. “Bubba”, Destinee, Jacee, Dustin, Dillon, Jodee, Jarred, Dakota, Janaee, and Pawpaw to 22 grandchildren, and Great Pawpaw to 3 little ones.
“Asking for help was the last thing we wanted to do. My dad has lived a life of never asking for an outside helping hand but this is something he cannot fight alone. Thank you in advance for your kind donations,” Emerson added.
