Friendship Art Club offering three scholarships, next meeting April 9

In anticipation of high school graduations, the Friendship Art Club is offering three $600 scholarships. These scholarships are available for graduating seniors who are interested in continuing their interest in art. College students who are furthering their art education also qualify. Applications are available through school counselors and art teachers at Devine, Natalia, Lytle and Somerset High Schools. Applications are due April 26.
The April meeting is April 9. Area artist and member, Shirley Friesenhahn will demonstrate drawing and painting trees. Members are encouraged to share examples of their current work during Show and Tell. Hostesses are Linda Kellar and Josephine McMahon.
In March, the group enjoyed an educational program by George Rodriguez of Jerry’s Artarama. Later in the month, members were invited for a special visit to the San Antonio store. They took advantage of deep discounts, raffles and refreshments.
The art group meets every Tuesday morning at the Lytle Church of Christ. Members work on a variety of art media and share drawing and painting tips. Media includes acrylics, oils, colored pencils, water colors, pastels and graphite drawings. Business meetings are the second Tuesday of each month with a pot luck luncheon following the program. Please call membership chairman, Jane Brown, 210-415-2546, for more information.
