Four Devine ISD School Board, three City Council seats, possible golf course sale on ballot in May election

Four Devine ISD School Board positions and three seats on the Devine City Council are up for grabs in the upcoming General Election scheduled for Saturday, May 7.
The deadline for candidates to file is Friday, February 18.
Devine ISD School Board
The District 1 and District 2 seats currently held by Alixiana Buvinghausen and Carl Brown, as well as two at-large positions held by Chris Davis and Renee Frieda, are up for election.
Devine City Council
The District 1, District 3, and District 4 positions are all up for election. Those seats are currently held by Rufino “Flipper” Vega, David Espinosa, and Kathy Lawler.
The election will be the first under the new municipal voting districts adopted by Council in December 2021 (see “Devine City Council adopts redistricting plan” in the January 5, 2022 edition of The Devine News).
Also expected to be on the ballot is a non-binding referendum on whether the City should sell the Devine Golf Course (see “Sale of golf course to be put to Devine residents in an upcoming election” in the August 18, 2021 ed. of the News).
Early voting begins on April 25 and ends May 3. Voting will be held at City Hall, located at 303 S. Teel Dr. in Devine.
