Felipe Lopez Patino


Felipe Lopez Patino, of San Antonio, passed away on August 30, 2017 in San Antonio at the age of 77 years.
Felipe was born December 14, 1939 in Laredo, Texas, the oldest of six children born to Jose Gerado Patino and Hortencia Lopez Patino. Felipe worked in the cattle business nearly all his life, starting as a ranch hand in South Texas alongside his father, Gerardo “Lalo” Patino. Later, he worked at Callaghan Ranch in Encinal, Texas and Bowmen Ranch in Marfa, Texas. Felipe then moved to Blythe, California, where he became the foreman for Western Cattle Feeders for 13 years. After his children left home, he returned to Texas to work as a manager and ranch administrator for Eads Ranch and Santa Cruz Ranch. Felipe worked there for more than 30 years, until his retirement in 2015 at the age of 75.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Amparo Merla Patino and his son, Jose Geraldo Patino.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Felipe Patino, Jr. and Elizabeth of Decatur, Georgia; daughter, Norma Patino of San Antonio; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sisters, Carolina Ruiz of Mexicali Baja, California, Fabiana Robulloso of Laredo, Rosa Raz of Nuevo Laredo, Martha Diaz of Indio, California and Juanita Grady of Blythe, California; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation began at 10:00 am Saturday, September 2, 2017, with the Prayer Service at 2:00 pm at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. A reception followed at the home of Norma Patino, 11430 Luckey Ledge, San Antonio, Texas 78252.
