Doubles Pirates bring home third at Jourdanton

Diego Rangel and Michael Tomlinson won 3rd in Boys Doubles.

The Pirate’s tennis team headed to Jourdanton for a Varsity tournament and after a long day of matches, Lytle brought home 3rd in Boys Doubles. Diego Rangel and Michael Tomlinson finished 3-1 in the main draw bracket and earned 3rd.
All JV players were moved up to varsity for this week as the JV division had too many teams. “I was proud of our JV athletes as they were a bit intimidated playing up against juniors and seniors but they all played well and had some great moments during their matches,” said Coach Hernandez.
The day began with a big moment for the Pirates tennis team as Kyle Mueller made his season debut following his season ending injury during cross country at the regional meet. Kyle has been a huge part of our program for the previous 3 years and seeing him finally back on the court was an awesome sight. Kyle played well and finished 2-2 for the day.
Zachary Bradshaw was 2-2 and he played hard but lost the 3rd place match. Coach Frank Hernandez and the Pirates will head to the East Central Grand Slam next week and then the JV will compete in the Chili Cup March 25th while the Varsity goes to the Uvalde Tournament.
