Doris Jeanette Tezel Schuchart, of San Antonio, passed away on March 27, 2018 in a San Antonio hospital, at the age of 86 years.
Doris was born March 10, 1932 in San Antonio, the only child of Gilbert H. Tezel and Elvera Steubing Tezel. Doris grew up speaking only German, which was not a problem until she started going to school and was sent home by her teacher in the first grade to learn English! She went on to complete school and graduate a year ahead of schedule from Fox Tech High School.
On September 8, 1951, Doris married Vernon Ray Schuchart. They traveled the world together, partied and always had a good time. At the time of Vernon’s passing in 2011, they were blessed with fifty-nine years of marriage and two sons. Doris was always happy and never complained. She always told everyone “the back door is always open! Come on in and let’s have a drink.” She was extremely proud of her husband and her sons all being Aggies! Although Doris will be greatly missed, we take comfort in the memory of her always saying, “I have had a great life.”
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Elvera Tezel; husband, Vernon R. Schuchart; and daughter-in-law, Alva Stein Schuchart.
Survivors include her sons, Dale Schuchart, and Chris Schuchart and his wife Vivian Torres; grandchildren, Leland and Jamie Schuchart, Erin and Matt Pedroza, Lindon and Kristen Schuchart, Kate and Dustin Cook, Josh and Michelle Schuchart, Katie and Chris Solis, and Sarah and Craig Beck; great-grandchildren, Layne, Logan and Lawson Schuchart, Easton, Mattie and Cannon Pedroza, Levi Schuchart, Camdyn and Collins Cook, Ava and Adam Solis and Wesley Beck. Visitation will be Thursday, March 29, 2018 from 5 to 8 pm at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be Friday, March 30, 2018 at 9:30 am at Zion Lutheran Church of Helotes, 9944 Leslie Road, San Antonio, TX 78254. Interment will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery.Memorials may be made in Doris’s memory to Zion Lutheran Church Memorial Fundor the charity of your choice.
