Dominga Maria Benitez Ybarra was born March 29, 1925 in Quihi. She passed away on April 27, 2017 at her home in Castroville at the age of 92 years. She was one of six children born to Valentin and Guadalupe Benitez.
In addition to her parents, Valentin and Guadalupe, Dominga was preceded in death by her husband, Fabian Sabastian Ybarra, Sr.; daughter, Dolores De La Fuente; siblings Eusebio Benitez, Rebecca “Becky” Cooremen and Tommie Cooremen.
Survivors include her children, Fabian Ybarra, Jr. of San Antonio, David (Elida) Ybarra of Quihi, Jim (Lisa) Ybarra of St. Paul, Minnesota, Elsie Ybarra of Cedar Hill, Yolanda Cadena of Castroville and Ester (George) Ortega of Castroville; son-in-law, Guadalupe De La Fuente of Pearson; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; brother, Tony (Margie) Benitez of Von Ormy; sister, Mary (Nick) Trevino of San Antonio; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation was Tuesday, May 2, 2017 from 2:00 pm to 5:30 pm at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. The Holy Rosary was recited Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at 7:00 pm at St. Louis Catholic Church. Mass of the Resurrection will be Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at 10:00 am at St. Louis Catholic Church. Interment will follow at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Dominga’s memory to the Susan G. Komen Foundation (www.komen.org) or the charity of your choice.
