Devine Volunteer Fire Department elected new officers after the resignation of several top officers in August including Fire Chief Jason Johnson, Deputy Chief Steve Taichman and two others.
New Board
The new Board Members are: President: Mark Leach – Been with Devine VFD for 7 yrs and also holds title Fire Chief with Bigfoot VFD, has a total of 7 yrs in the Fire Service.
Vice President: Nicholas Hughan – Been with Devine VFD for 6 + yrs.
Treasurer: Carla Walker -New member with Devine VFD, has 1 yr of Treasurer and 1 yr as Secretary with her last Department, but a total 3 yrs within the Fire Service.
Secretary: Justine Hruzek – New member with Devine VFD, has 4 yrs of Secretary with last Department, but a total of 6 yrs in the Fire Service.
Member-at-Large: Daniel Thomas – Been with Devine VFD for 9+ yrs.
New Line Officers:
Fire Chief: Michael Walker – Has 30+ yrs experience in the Fire Service. 15 yrs of it was being the Fire Chief over 15-30 members. The other 15+ yrs held other Line Officers Positions; Captain, Lieutenant and the Last year and half Assistant Chief here with Devine VFD.
Deputy Chief: Robert Scott – Has 14 yrs experience in the Fire Service 2yrs Lieutenant, 2 yrs Captain and 6 yrs Assistant Chief. He also Served the City of Devine on the Ambulance for 6 yrs EMT Intermediate, where he was Lieutenant of the station.
Assistant Chief: Christian Jones – Has 9 yrs in the Fire Service 7 yrs Volunteer and 2 yrs TCFP. He has 8 yrs EMT Basic and works here in Devine on AMR.
