Devine City Council and DISD School Board seats up for election in May

One seat on the Devine City Council is up for grabs in the upcoming General Election scheduled for Saturday, May 7 to be decided by District 4 voters.

Cassandra Maldonado, Woodrow Wilburn, and Josh Ritchey are running for the District 4 position. District 4 incumbent Kathy Lawler did not file for re-election.
District 1 Councilman Rufino “Flipper” Vega and District 3 Councilman David Espinosa both filed to retain their seats and are unopposed.
Early voting begins on April 25 and ends May 3. Election Day is Saturday, May 7. Voting will be at City Hall, 303 S. Teel Dr..

In School Board news, three candidates are now running for two at-large positions. Incumbents Chris Davis and Renee Frieda filed re-election, and are joined by Brenda Burford. David Gonzales had filed, but changed his mind and pulled out of the race. All Devine ISD voters can vote in the at large election.
District 1 representative Alixiana Buvinghausen and District 2 representative Carl Brown are both unopposed in their re-election bids.
