Devine basketball tips off

With the Arabian volleyball team heading into playoffs and the Warhorse football team in 2nd with two games to go, Devine is gearing up for basketball. The Arabians were allowed to start practicing on October 20th while the boys had to wait until October 27th.
The Arabians are once again led by Coach Jim Sessions and with six players that racked up a lot of court time and three that saw some action, the Arabians are set to be a stiff competition. After sharing the district title with Somerset and earning the title of Quarterfinal Area Champions, the Arabians are ready to go further this season. They look to be undefeated in district and win as many tournaments as they are invited to. Coach Sessions is ready to be back on the court with his already strong team. The Arabians will have their first scrimmage on November 1st in Bandera. Their first game will be November 9th at home against Falls City with games starting at 5pm. The Arabian home tournament is scheduled for December 9th-11th.
The Warhorses finished last season 3-3 in district and 9-14 overall. Their playoff run ended against Crystal City in the Bi-District playoff game. Now under the direction of Coach Evan Eads, the Warhorses will work hard to improve on last season’s record. With five returning varsity players, Coach Eads has a strong foundation to start with. The Warhorses will open their season in Dilley and their first home game will be November 19th against Comfort. The Warhorse home tournament is scheduled for December 9th-11th.
Get ready to support all of Devine’s basketball teams as they play with the Tradition of Excellence.
