Dennis Carl Scheidt

Dennis Carl Scheidt, of San Antonio, passed away on December 18, 2018 in San Antonio at the age of 80 years. He was born June 4, 1938 in San Antonio, one of four children of William Herman Scheidt and Annie Filomena Banse Scheidt.
In 1956, Dennis graduated from Central Catholic High School. He joined the Navy and proudly served his country for four years. After his discharge from the Navy, he worked for General Dynamics in Ft. Worth as an Electronic Technician. After moving back to San Antonio, he worked at Southwest Research from 1962 to 2006, becoming a Senior Engineering Technician. Dennis was a private pilot and especially enjoyed flying gliders. He was one of the founders of San Geronimo Airpark. Dennis loved the outdoors. His favorite outdoor activities were fishing, hunting, riding his motorcycle and bike, sailing and kayaking. He especially loved these activities when his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were included.
On November 12, 1956, he married Gail Patricia Huegele at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in San Antonio. Their marriage was blessed with 62 years of marriage, six children, 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, William and Annie Scheidt; granddaughter, Samantha Rivero; sister, Judith Paige; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ferdinand and Alice Huegele.
Survivors include his wife, Gail Scheidt of San Antonio; children, Veronica Cook (Robert) of Kennesaw, Georgia, Pamela LaGrone of The Woodlands, Carl Scheidt (Valerie) of Peachtree City, Georgia, Chuck Scheidt (Stacey) of Sandia, Connie Landry (Don) of San Antonio and Jill Scheidt (Jeff Barnett) of Charlotte, North Carolina; 12 grandchildren, Russel Cook (Julia), Thomas Cook, Jean Cook, James LaGrone III, Katharine Scheidt, Kirk Scheidt (Sarah), Megan Hoffman (Ashton), Waylon Scheidt, Kayla Edwards, Alison Graham (Clayton), Mark Landry (Kasey) and Sedona Barnett; seven great-grandchildren, Jackson Cook, Ainsley Cook, Chandler Cook, Gavin Cook, Stephen Graham, Travis Graham and Lacey Edwards; brothers, William Scheidt (Dorothy) of Boerne and Herman Scheidt (Gladys) of Pleasanton; brother-in-law, Donald Paige: as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 10:30 am at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, Shelter # 3. A reception will follow at 1:00 pm at the San Geronimo Airpark, 15464 W. FM 471/Culebra Road, San Antonio, TX 78253.
Memorials may be made in his memory to American Cancer Society, Christus VNA Hospice or the charity of your choice.
