David Timothy Lowrance

Mr. David Timothy Lowrance, age 74, of Nacogdoches, Texas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 4, 2017, at Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital.
He was born October 8, 1942, in Springfield, Missouri, to Dewitt and Rhoda Lowrance. Tim is survived by his loving wife , Mary, of 49 years. They were married in Devine, Texas, on August 19, 1967. Tim is also survived by his two children, Brian Lowrance and his wife Rachel; Carol Mckee and her husband Stephen; three grandchildren, Ashley Mckee, Audrey Lowrance, and Cameron Buettner; and his sister, Mary Ann McConnell.
Tim graduated high school from Devine in 1960. Shortly after, he joined the US Navy, serving from 1960-1966. After graduating nuclear power school, he served in the Vietnam War as an electrician on nuclear powered submarines, including the USS Halibut and USS Sea Dragon. He was honorably discharged and spent most of his working career as a superintendent with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He worked at various hydropower plants including Parker Dam in California; Fort Peck Reservoir in Montana; and both Whitney and Sam Rayburn Reservoirs in Texas. He retired in 2001 with forty years of federal service.
Tim enjoyed hunting big mule deer in Montana and catching big redfish off the coast of Texas. As he got older, he became an expert catching catfish at Sam Rayburn Reservoir. He was an avid San Antonio Spurs fan, and he loved to watch his Dallas Cowboys on Sundays.
A graveside service is scheduled for 1:00 pm Thursday, May 11, 2017, at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, located in Devine, Texas. Deacon George R. Torres of St. Joseph Catholic Church will be officiating.
