City crews work over 8 hours to repair water leak

Devine city crews got the call around 3:30 am that a water leak was spotted at Hwy 173 and Commercial Avenue in downtown Devine near the railroad tracks and old SWT grain mill. After many hours of hard work, they were able to get it repaired around noon this Tuesday.
“Everything is good now,” said Public Works Rob Flores. “The leak was at the corner of Hwy 173 and Commercial, and thankfully we could see it because it was coming out of the ground like a little 8 inch fountain. Then the water was just pooling under the Hwy 173 drain system and shooting back out above ground due to the amount of pressure (which is what you see in the picture). The age of some of these lines–they are just old and brittle.”
