Chemical spill during package delivery

Around 1 pm on November 25, Devine VFD was toned out for a chemical spill in the 300 block of IH-35 North along the Frontage Road.
“The spill was spotted as FedEx was delivering a different package to a business near I-35. FedEx was carrying a tote and a plastic liner was punctured. Close to 100 gallons of the blue substance was spilling out onto the ground,” Devine VFD Chief Mike Walker said.
“We built a containment with rock and sand and waited for environmental crews to arrive, and it was determined not to be a hazardous substance. The substance was actually an additive for fertilizer that was being shipped to the Pearsall area,” said Chief Walker.
