Charles Edward ‘Charlie’ Collins

Charles Edward ‘Charlie’ Collins, of Lytle, passed away at his home on November 20, 2023, at the age of 73. He was born March 2, 1950, in San Antonio to Oren James ‘Pickle’ Collins, Sr. and Marguerite Calk ‘Mickey’ Townsend.


In 1968, Charlie graduated from Lytle High School. He attended SWTJC in Uvalde and Texas A & I University in Kingsville, where he met his sweetheart, Gaye Aderholdt. Charlie was an elevator installer and maintainer, working at Hunter Hayes, Dover, and then retiring from Thyssen Krupp. He was an avid supporter of Lytle High School Athletic programs.
On June 15, 1971, Charlie and Gaye were married in Kingsville, Texas. They were blessed with fifty-two years of marriage, three sons and two grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Gaye Collins; sons, Kevin (Shannon) Collins of Austin and Curtis Collins of San Antonio; grandchildren, Campbell Collins and Carson Collins; sisters, Sissy Joyce of Lytle and Barbara Smith of Johnson City; brother-in-law, David (Claire) Aderholdt of Big Foot; sister-in-law, Jacqueline Anne Malik of Lafayette, Louisiana; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Oren James ‘Pickle’ Collins, Sr. and Marguerite Calk ‘Mickey’ Townsend; son, Clint Collins; brother, James Collins, Jr.; and brother-in-law, Walter Joyce.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 30, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home in Castroville. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 1, 2023 at the Lytle United Methodist Church, 19341 Somerset Road, Lytle, Texas. Interment will follow at the Lytle Community Cemetery, 15309 Laredo St, in Lytle, Texas. Please dress casual.
