Arabians top of the heap in District 29-4A; Defeat Carrizo Springs, Uvalde

Devine entered last night’s game at Pleasanton still sporting their undefeated District 29-4A record at 8-0 after wins last week against Carrizo Springs and Uvalde.
Head Coach Jim Sessions after last week’s games stated, “The girls are really starting to come together and are playing well right now!”
There are big district games still to be played, each of which could have huge implications on where the Arabians finish in the overall standings going into the state playoffs.

Devine did not come out with advantages in many of the key statistical categories in this one, but they did come out on top of the most important one which is the final score as they defeated the Lady Cats 54-44 after outscoring them by nine points in the second half.

Warhorse powerlifting season underway; De Leon, Reyes take silver

With the Christmas break in their rearview mirror, the Warhorse powerlifting team took to the hard-mats last Wednesday in Natalia for their first meet of the 2024 season.
Devine placed seventh overall with a few noteworthy individual accomplishments as well as Seth De Leon (165lb) and Israel Reyes (181lb) placed second in their respective weight divisions.

Warhorses hit rough patch in District 29-4A

The Warhorses opened their District 29-4A campaign with consecutive losses against near-5A Pleasanton and Somerset. The Eagles defeated Devine while the Bulldogs came out on top 68-53 January 5th.
Devine played in Pearsall Tuesday night (Jan9) and look to use consecutive home games against Floresville (Jan12) and Uvalde (Jan16) as a spring-board to get them rolling the rest of the season.

Last Tuesday, the varsity Warhorse team capped off a terrific night had by ALL Devine high school basketball teams as they defeated visiting Hondo 79-54. Even though the hallways at DHS were silent last week, the Arabian basketball team got in a little work over the Thanksgiving holiday with games against La Vernia and Navarro.
