Class 3A and Class 1A hold their annual Regional Track Meet in Seguin at Matador Stadium Friday, April 19 and Saturday, April 20. The top two finishers in each event move on to the State Meet, which is Thursday, May 2 for Class 3A.

Johnny Alvarez, Rudy Cepeda, William Davalos, Sebastian Garcia, Chase Guevara, Bryan Montes-Rodriguez, Brandon Obando, and Abel Sanchez represent Pirate Track and Field at this weekend’s Regional Meet in Seguin at Matador Stadium. At Regional, the top two finishers from each event advance to the State Meet in Austin Thursday, May 2.
The Pirates placed third as a team with 94 points, trailing only champion Jourdanton who posted 134 and Poth who netted 102.
Sanchez and Montes-Rodriguez tied for fourth place as far as total points scored for their team as each raked in 20 points each. Alvarez was right behind those two as he tallied 18 points to tie for…

Klayre Cook, Svetlana Lopez, Laleina Reveira, Frances Scotello, and Calyssa Sevier represent Lady Pirate Track at this weekend’s Regional Meet at Matador Stadium in Seguin. At Regional, the top two spots advance to State in Austin Thursday, May 2.
The Lady Pirates placed fourth as a team with 63 points at last week’s Area Meet in Jourdanton as they trailed only champion Poth, runner-up Hondo, and third place Crystal City.
Amazingly, Lytle did this with the lowest number of participants between each of the top four teams.

Aimee Carr, Kynedie Cruz, Maddie DuBose, Kourtni Geyer, Kylie Monreal, Savannah Parker, and Brooke Thompson represent the Arabian Track Team at this weekend’s Regional Meet in Kingsville. At Regional, the top two spots from each competition advance to the Thursday, May 2 State Meet in Austin.
Devine placed third overall in last week’s Area Meet in Port Lavaca as they scored 73 points to place behind champion Rockport-Fulton and runner-up Beeville Jones.

Everyone’s original Warhorse and Arabian 2024 Track Schedule has Sinton on Wednesday, April 10 as the site and date of this year’s Area Track Meet. However, a recent change has the meet moved to Port Lavaca Calhoun on Thursday, April 11.

Many of the Warhorses faced stiff competition in last week’s meet in Floresville as they managed 76 points to place middle of the pack in District 29-4A. Pearsall won the team title followed by Pleasanton as the runner-up.
Donovan Dixon was the sole gold medal winning Warhorse as he took top honors in the 400m Dash. Dixon also earned a bronze medal in the 800m Run.

It was short and sweet, at least to those of us that did not have to run outside or workout at our favorite (or least favorite) field event every day after school for the past four months or so, but the Junior Varsity Arabian and Warhorse 2024 track season concluded Wednesday, April 3-4 in Floresville at the District 29-4A Meet.
While varsity-level track and field members advance to Area with a top four finish, the JV season slowly fades into a memory for all those that represented Devine High School proudly and to the best of their ability.

The Mustangs scored 68 points to place fifth overall in last week’s District 28-3A Meet in Natalia. They edged 6th place Crystal City by three points as the Javelinas finished with 65 points.
Justing Curiel and Mason Giera earned the distinction of individual district champions as Curiel breezed his was to the 110m Hurdles win as did Giera in High Jump.
