Arabians headed to playoffs to face the Lady Pirates last week and as Coach Oropeza said “These girls like to raise my blood pressure by coming back to win games at the very last moment.” Indeed both games, Arabians raised that blood pressure. For the first game in the Bi-District series, Rockport Fulton scored early in the second inning holding the Arabians 1-0 until the 5th inning. Junior catcher Airyanna Rodriguez came up to bat to put that first point up by driving one to shortstop bringing in Kelsey Dishman to tie the game in the fifth inning. Nine of twelve District 29-4A games involving the Warhorse baseball team were decided by three runs or less. Unfortunately for Devine, seven of those games were won by the opposition as the State Playoffs were not in the cards for the 2024 season.

Devine has not done well against Cornerstone Christian recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn’t let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Devine Arabians came out on top in a nail-biter against the Cornerstone Christian Warriors and snuck past 5-3. The win was familiar territory for Devine who now have four in a row.
