As DHS Seniors of 2024 conclude their public education, various community groups are celebrating their success with parties in their honor. Wednesday, April 10, begins the festivities with an after-school ice cream social hosted by the Current Events Club at 302 W. Benton Avenue.

Lytle ISD got a $44,659 grant to train 120 students as chefs and head cooks in partnership with Alamo Colleges District–St. Phillips College. It is one of several grants issued by Texas Workforce Commission totaling over a half million in grant money to area schools. Other recipients included Alamo Colleges District-Palo Alto and Judson ISD.

In a captivating Current Events Club meeting, Theodor Muresan, a Romanian exchange student, shared his unique insights into global affairs, offering a fresh perspective on current events.
Theo, a 17-year-old Junior from the Transylvania region of Romania, is currently living with his host family, the Vanderslices, while studying at Devine High School. In Romania, Theo participated in historic reenactments, football, and public speaking. Devine High School students Trinity Spurgers and Adam Moreno were honored as Students of the Month at a recent Devine Lions Club meeting. Both are seniors at DHS.

Trinity is involved in many activities including power lifting, robotics, band and UIL Lit Crit.
“For my future plans I’ve applied and been accepted into A&M Corpus Christi for engineering and art. I hope to get a degree in both subjects and get a well paying job. I also plan on learning other instruments to play while in college,” Spurgers said.
She is the daughter of Denise Aguilar.

Issuance of $11.255 million in bonds in support of school construction at an interest rate of 4.23 percent was approved by a 5-0 vote of the Devine school board at its Jan. 18 special meeting.
Financial consultant Robert Tijerina of Tijerina Galvan and Lawrence reported to the board that the bond had been successfully sold the previous day. The funds will be delivered to the school district on Feb. 15.
