Veterans needed for Devine VFW float for Natalia’s parade

VFW Post 3966 of Devine will have a patriotic float in the Natalia Bluebonnet Festival Parade on Saturday, April 6, 2024. Our Post is looking for veterans to fill the float. We will have about 15 seats available to fill. You do not have to be a Post member. All veterans are welcome.

Get Out & Grow event April 13 from 10am-12pm in Devine

Ever one is invited to attend this free community gardening activity, Get Out & Grow, in Devine from 10:00 am to 12 pm noon on Saturday, April 13.
It is a gardening activity for the family, all ages welcome, with teachings led by Gro More Gardens, the Whitakers, from Devine.
It is sponsored by GroMore Gardens, Texas WIC Medina County, and SNAP, USDA, putting health foods within reach.

(Hondo, Texas) – 3/25/2024 – As spring approaches, the threat of severe weather events such as torrential rain, flooding, high winds, and lightning require preparedness. The consequences of failing to identify warnings or adequately prepare can be severe, leading to injuries and even fatalities. As the season unfolds, Medina Electric Cooperative urges everyone to take note of the necessary precautions to safeguard themselves and their loved ones.

4H Teams compete in Textile contests

4-H Duds to Dazzle County Contest
Devine had five teams participate in the county contest over spring break, our largest group yet!
Teams consist of 3-4 members. They are given a textile item to create a new product from a given category (wearable, accessory, or non-wearable). Teams must use the resources
available to market, price, construct, and care for the newly developed product within a 60-minute time frame, while also developing a marketing speech. Fashion sustainability was a new component added to the contest. Members researched facts about textile production, fast fashion and considered the impact it has…

This week we would like to recognize the many volunteers at Natalia, Devine, Bigfoot, and Moore Volunteer Fire Departments. Together, these men and women have responded to over 1,000 calls for help in 2023. Whether that call comes in at 2 o’clock in the morning or on a Saturday afternoon, these men and women sacrifice many hours to be there in our times of need. Thank you for your hard work and dedication to our local communities!
