Medina County 4H wins big at district roundup

Medina County 4H participants in the District 10 4H Spring Roundup were honored Monday during the regular session of the Medina County Commissioners Court.
The 4H had nearly 85 members participate in the roundup with half of its members participating in numerous district contests.
In the wool and mohair judging Medina County senior team including Zohana Wavie, Mikayla Birney, Molly Lessing and Yancey Pearson received second place and will be advancing to state roundup. Wavie received third place in the individual wool judging. In mohair judging, Hunter Gilliam received second place in the junior age division.

Local artist has art featured on cover of new book

Local artist Jeanette Rench, of Devine, will have her artwork featured on the front cover a book titled “Midnight Clear” by Denise Mich’el, of San Antonio. The painting on the cover is titled “The Breath of God.”

New mural in town!

This new mural at the old Devine Vol. Fire Station, now occupied by NAPA Auto Parts, is full of Warhorse and Arabian pride. The beauitufl new mural was completed by art students at Devine High School. It is the most recent of many murals around town, which began with the mural painted on the side of Sherry’s Flowers in downtown Devine. Art Club students building Devine’s mural painting tradition pictured above are: Madeline Hein, Ximena Rendon, Adam Moreno, Ian Rendon, Isabella Ramos, Miranda Delgado, Deisy Ramirez, and Jayden George.

Divine Blessings offers a helping hand to people in need

Paul and Sandra Reed, of Devine, are here to offer a helping hand to families in need.
“I got a TBI (traumatic brain injury) in 2018, and after seeing how much the community supported us at that difficult time, my wife decided to start this charity to give back,” Mr. Reed said.
“Divine Blessings is happy to help with families struggling with medical bills or loss from a house fire, and we also help the homeless,” Reed adds.

Veterans needed for Devine VFW float for Natalia’s parade

VFW Post 3966 of Devine will have a patriotic float in the Natalia Bluebonnet Festival Parade on Saturday, April 6, 2024. Our Post is looking for veterans to fill the float. We will have about 15 seats available to fill. You do not have to be a Post member. All veterans are welcome.

Get Out & Grow event April 13 from 10am-12pm in Devine

Ever one is invited to attend this free community gardening activity, Get Out & Grow, in Devine from 10:00 am to 12 pm noon on Saturday, April 13.
It is a gardening activity for the family, all ages welcome, with teachings led by Gro More Gardens, the Whitakers, from Devine.
