On Monday, August 21st, 2023, Casey Landon Asher, passed away at the age of 38 in San Antonio.
He was born in San Antonio, Texas on November 18th, 1984. He was the devoted son of Velma Loanna Asher and Archie Meriel Asher Jr. and loving brother to siblings; Carrie, Crystal and Cody.
Casey received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Graphic Design from the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio and a Master of Fine Arts degree in Photography from the New York Film Academy in Los Angeles. Had the continuation of higher education not come with expenses, he would have pursued everything his heart desired to learn. Instead, he showed willingness to learn and excel in any job he attained. From as early as age 16, he has held numerous jobs; SeaWorld, Walmart, Hobby Lobby, Home Depot, Lowe’s, and most recently a Crew Lead for TriSmart Solar. But, the job he loved most of all, his true passion, was a Photographer.
Like an astronaut exploring the vastness of space, Casey documented and shared his findings with us through the medium of the photograph. From extreme close-ups of the tiniest insects, to the black lit canopy with holes punched in it known as the Cosmos; Casey developed his keen eye and wanderlust style; capturing the worlds he explored with his family and friends as he saw them. With his creativity and acute attention to detail, his work sparked the imagination of anyone who saw them. In other words… A Master of Photography.
Casey was a stoic soul. A true version of the strong and silent type; instilling selflessness, warmth, honesty, protection, compassion and diligence to everyone he knew. While he wasn’t hard at work, he enjoyed the finer and healthier things in life. Like Remy from Ratatouille, he “Only-wanted-the good stuff”; artisan coffee and cold brew, sandwiches, craft beer, whiskey and all sweets, particularly tiramisu. He was a collector of all types of pop-culture, particularly 80’s influenced; including vinyl records, movies, Nintendo video games (all things Zelda); tools, books, instruments, electronics, beanies, plaid shirts, Converse and some of the coolest graphic shirts you’ve ever seen. When he wasn’t at home surrounding himself in Harry Potter, David Bowie, Trent Reznor, or woodworking shows, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Traveling, exploring, building things with his hands, working out, hiking, eating, drinking, seeing and quoting movies, playing games, singing music of all genres, and using his monkey body to traverse just about anything. Casey was a strong hugger, a smart student, a loyal companion, a fierce, fierce friend, a sweet nephew, a goofy cousin, a loving Godfather, an inspiring brother, and a dutiful son.
Casey has reunited with his late father Archie Meriel Asher Jr. He is now a Shepherd of God watching over us and filling our hearts with patience, joy, kindness, creativity, silence and love. He is survived by his mother Velma and his three siblings: Carrie, Crystal, and Cody; brother-in-law Gilbert, and Godson Kanan; his aunts and uncles: Ronnie and Wayne, Gary, Edna and Eddie, Linda, Lora; and several cousins; Amy (Chad), Kimberly (Joey), Robert, Clinton, Kate, Jason (Ashley), Alexander and Aric.
