Carolyn Hopkins

Carolyn Marie Hopkins was born April 29, 2002 in San Antonio, Texas and died January 18, 2018 in Devine, Texas at age fifteen.
Carolyn moved to Devine when she was five months old. She attended Faith Christian Academy through the fourth grade. She then transferred to Devine public schools. Carolyn was an excellent student. As a high school student she particularly enjoyed her Fashion Design class. She enjoyed designing and making costumes and dresses for herself and her friends. She also had a passionate interest in history. Other interests included: wood-working, sculpture, baking, running, bike-riding, dancing, and camping. Carolyn was active in the girl scouts for several years.
Carolyn was very active in the youth program and the youth choir at the First Baptist Church of Devine. Just one year ago she gave her heart to the Lord and chose to baptized.
Carolyn truly enjoyed helping others. From the time she was in pre-school, she enjoyed helping other children with their school assignments. Carolyn often volunteered at the Devine Food Pantry beginning her seventh grade year. She had recently started volunteering at Wings and Reins Equine Refuge. She was a wonderful mentor and friend to her younger brother and a delight to both of her parents.
Carolyn will be greatly missed by her mother Louisa Hopkins, her father Frank Hopkins, and her brother David Hopkins of Devine. She is survived by her maternal grandparents Robert and Katharine Panfil of Arlington, Virginia; her paternal grandparents Doran and Francele Hopkins of Summerville, Oregon; and her boyfriend Christopher Esquibel of Devine, Texas. She was extremely close to her extended family as well, including four cousins who live in Oregon and Virginia.
Carolyn’s parents would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the amazing people in the Devine community. Your kindness and generosity during this difficult time have been very touching and we are thankful.
