Calvin Paul Schott

Calvin Paul Schott

Calvin Paul Schott was born on February 13, 1927, to Paul and Alma Hutzler Schott. He went home to the Lord on Saturday, October 13, 2018, surrounded by family, at the age of 91 years and 8 months.
Calvin married the love of his life, Virginia Wrasse, on October 25, 1949 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in La Coste, Texas. Calvin was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather to his large family. He loved getting together with them and was very proud every time he learned of a new great-grandbaby. He said he prayed every night before going to sleep for all of his family. He would chuckle about how long it took before he was done praying for everyone individually.
Calvin was a lifelong farmer and rancher and loved raising cattle. He worked at Chapman Grain in his early 20’s and went to work at age 29 for the Texas Department of Highways and Transportation from which he retired in 1984. He and Virginia loved dancing, traveling, fishing, hunting and camping. He was an avid baseball player all of his life. He still watched every major league game he could find on television. He knew most of the player’s statistics and who they played for and he especially loved the Houston Astros. He played for the Highway 90 League, the Rio Medina Tigers and the Quihi Giants. He was always up for a good poker game and loved going to the casinos to play Texas Hold ‘Em. He took great pride in teaching his grandchildren and great grandchildren how to play cards.
Calvin was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 62 years, Virginia Wrasse Schott; his grandson, Ronnie Edwards Bohmfalk; his son-in-law, William “Billy” Brieden and his brothers-in-law, Ray Horner and George Wrasse, Jr.
He is survived by his daughters, Colleen Brieden, Beverly (Leo) Kempf, Mary (Daniel) Nelson, and Wanda (Ronald) Bohmfalk; grandchildren, Nadine (Roman) Calabrese, Billie Jo (Coy) Ricord, Nicole (Kerwin) Muller, Melanie (Todd) Wilkes, Jennifer (Cody) Carroll, Michelle (Jesse) Gremminger, Melissa (Barry) Jordan, Wendy (Kevin) Persyn, Rhonda (Kevin) Gear, Peggy Bohmfalk, Robert (Deanna) Bohmfalk, Renae Hermann, 48 great-grandchildren; sister, Dora Horner and sister-in-law, Virginia Wrasse and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
