Bust-n-Burn dance, cook-off, and clay shoot this Sept. 13-14

For the 6th year, organizers of the DJ Carlson Memorial Bust-n-Burn are planning a grand event for the fundraiser which provides scholarships for high school students who dream of a college education. They also seek to stimulate and nurture the youth’s natural interest in 4H and FFA to help them discover the power of agricultural science, community and the State of Texas.
David “D.J.” Carlson was a remarkable individual who was killed in an automobile accident on November 19th, 2012 at the age of 19. He was not a typical teenager; he was the type of youth that people were drawn to with a love of God, family and friends. That makes it easy to honor him.
More than 50 volunteers work throughout the year planning and hosting the DJ Carlson Memorial “Bust-n-Burn” fundraiser. This year it will take place on Friday and Saturday, September 13 and 14 at 2111 W. FM 462 in Moore. It will include an IBCA Cook-off, a 12 Station Registered Sporting Clay Shoot, a Washer Tournament and a Dance.
Fundraising Committee members will be contacting past participants in preparation for this year’s event because everyone’s continued support is critical to the improvement in the number of scholarships which will be made available to students in the months and years ahead. In the past few years the organization has awarded over $80,000 in scholarships to 40 local area students.
Plan to attend and help out. Donations can be sent to the DJ Carlson Memorial Fund at P.O. Box 173 in Devine, Texas 78016.
