Betty Jean Reynolds Brooks Mendieta, passed away on May 24, 2017 at Warm Springs Specialty Hospital of Victoria at the age of 85 years.
Jean was born March 14, 1932 in Victoria to Oran Lee and Lillian Lola Argo Reynolds. She graduated from Nazareth Academy and then worked as a draftsman for Southwestern Bell Telephone in Victoria.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, Jimmie E. Brooks.
Survivors include her husband, Ramon Mendieta of Victoria; son, Jimmy (Gina) Brooks of Houston; sister Janet (Stephen) Reus of San Antonio; grandson, Preston Brooks of Houston, and several nephews and cousins.
Graveside service and interment will be at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road, San Antonio, on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at 9:30 am. “Just when the caterpillar thought her life was over, she became a butterfly.”
