Duane was a jack of all trades, with skills in many areas. There was nothing he couldn’t fix.
In 1961 he met the love of his life at the Battle of Flowers Parade in San Antonio. He married Carolyn Louise Boehle on June 8, 1963, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Quihi where they were active members of the congregation. They shared 46 years of marriage until her death in April of 2010.
Duane was a long-time member of the Hondo Volunteer Fire Department and an active volunteer for his daughter’s clubs and activities, including serving as Hondo Band Booster president.
One of the best skills Duane possessed was as grandpa, Paw Paw as he was known by his grandkids. He shared his love of hunting and fishing with them as well as being their biggest supporter for every dance recital, ball game, tournament or contest in which they participated.
Duane was a man of great faith who leaves a strong legacy of hard work, dedication and service. We know that he is rejoicing with the Lord, his wife and family.
