Well we went from nice and toasty to freezing cold pretty quickly this weekend didn’t we? I must be getting older, cause I’m talking about the weather like Jerry Beck. But I am not too old yet, because I do not record the amount of rainfall. I’m still one of those young irresponsible children who have to call someone older and wiser to ask how much rain we got. When I start keeping up with that, that’s how I’ll really know I’m old. No offense to any of you rain documenters.

For over 20 years, Brett Lorraine has been working at the Devine Evergreen Cemetery, ensuring that it is looking well groomed and taken care of. His duties include clearing grave sites of any trash or dead flowers, mowing, weed-eating, trimming, and removing dead limbs. 2 running for mayor, 3 running for council on Nov. 7 ballot
In the upcoming Mayor’s race….Natalia Mayor Chip Bluemel (incumbent) will be running against Tommy Ortiz (who is currently serving on council).
Also, three candidates are running for 2 at-large positions on Natalia City Council. Candidates are Darrin Frazier (incumbent), Ruby Vera (formerly mayor), and former police chief Valerie Naff.
In the school board election, candidates Paul Almendarez and Tiffany Rodriguez are unopposed.
Fourth Grade Veterans Day Concert Nov. 9th
The fourth graders at Devine Intermediate have been hard at work planning a concert to honor our veterans. The fourth grade Veterans Day concert will be held Thursday, November 9th at the Devine Intermediate gym at 6:00pm. The fourth graders would like to invite all veterans in our community to attend.

Evelyn Duke of Medina County received recognition from the commissioners’ court Oct. 16 for winning a 4-H Gold Star Award, the highest achievement award given by the Texas 4-H Youth Development Program.
