The Lady Pirates had a heckuva showing in Natalia Wednesday, April 3 at the District 28-3A Track and Field Meet as they finished third place with only eight varsity members comprising the team.
Lytle scored 102 points to place behind champion Hondo who tallied 153 and runner-up Crystal City who scored 151 points.
Head Coach Gilbert Ruiz was more than pleased with what he saw from his young team as there was one senior, one junior, four sophomores, and two freshman battling their way to that triple-digit point total.

Lytle was oh-so-close to capturing the District 28-3A Track and Field Championship but fell six-points shy as Hondo got the nod 146 points to the Pirates 140.
Mid-distance and distance runners dominated the day as Lytle filled multiple top-spots in the 3200m, 1600m, and 800m as well as some of those runners also scoring high in the 400m and 4x400m Relay.

Natalia’s JV Track and Field teams completed their 2024 season at home last Wednesday as they competed in the District 28-3A Meet. Both the Mustangs and Lady Mustangs placed sixth in the standings.
The Mustangs scored 39 points with 18 of those coming in Pole Vault as Jimmy Ayala placed second, Maddox Corker third, and Chris Tapia fourth.
Others scoring points for the Mustangs were Aaron Rodriguez, Derick Diaz, Caleb Guttendorf, Luke Bonenberger, and Roger Najera.

An enjoyable day was had by the Lytle JV track teams as they closed out their 2024 seasons with the Pirates placing runner-up and the Lady Pirates third at last Wednesday’s District 28-3A Meet in Natalia.
The Pirates tied Hondo with 113 points to place behind champion Dilley who scored 154 points while the Lady Pirates put up 90 points to fall behind Cotulla and Hondo.
Gold medals for the Pirates included Diego Reyna in 1600m and 800m, Nathan Garza in 3200m, Jonathan Massiate in 200m, and Seth Pierce in Shot Put.

Spring Fundraiser May 11th to benefit

The Devine Wesleyan Fellowship will be holding their Spring Fundraiser on May 11 to raise funds for Dollars for Scholars. We will be serving pulled pork, cole slaw, green beans and a drink for $12. The meal will be served at the Community Center starting at 11am until 2pm or sold out with eat in or takeout available.
