Records broken with over 51 inches near Cedar Bayou in Texas

Preliminary data from at least one Texas rain gauge appears to have broken the Texas tropical cyclone rainfall record and a new contiguous United States tropical cyclone rainfall record may have also been established, According to the US National Weather Service.

A post on social media, was a plea for help, as a Houston area woman shared a photo her sister had taken. The family was trapped on the 3rd floor of a flooded apartment building: “Friends I’m so heartbroken for the city of Houston right now. My sister and her family are currently trapped in their apartments in Kingwood, at King Cove Apartments on Magnolia Cove Dr. If there is anyone that could help rescue them, please let me know. This picture is from the 3rd floor and I believe the 1st floor has completely flooded over night. She doesn’t have power so her phone is off right now to save her battery.”

Donation Drive in Devine for over 1,300 hurricane evacuees

 

This photo was taken by a local family, the Vollmers, at their beach cottage in Rockport, Texas. Debris covered the area, but luckily, the structures of their cottages are still standing. While the Vollmers have a local home to come home to, many Rockport evacuees do not, after so many homes were leveled in the hurricane.

A group in Devine is organizing a donation drive for hurricane evacuees who are staying at hotels in nearby Pearsall.
