Austin’s Jeff Plankenhorn and band in Devine Dec. 15

If you enjoy folk music, country, blues, bluegrass, gospel, or soul, Jeff Plankenhorn and his 4 piece band will thoroughly entertain you at the Devine Area Artists’ Series concert on December 15th. The group will perform some Christmas songs, some numbers from the latest CD, “Sleeping Dogs”, and some well known favorites.
Jeff Plankenhorn, from Austin, is a larger than life presence on stage. A big man with a kind smile and generous demeanor, he is often the bedrock that binds a host of talents into a moving whole. “Plank” made his name in Austin as a preeminent guitar slinger, especially as a slide specialist. He has also found time to put pen to paper and is increasingly known for his impressive songwriting and powerful voice. With the release of “SoulSlide”, a collection of mostly original work, he has completed his bona fides as both a master instrumentalist and an important songwriter and singer.
This second concert of the DAAS season will start at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 15, at the George S. Woods Community Center in Devine. Season tickets will still be on sale for $25. Single tickets are $10. Students K-12 are admitted free if accompanied by an adult.
Refreshments are served at the intermission of the concert. And in the Christmas sprit, there will be door-prizes–poinsettias, gift cards, etc.!
The Devine Area Artists’ Series is made possible by 45 underwriters and four sponsors: Lytle State Bank, Morales Realty and A Bushel and a Peck, Mark Kidd’s State Farm Insurance, and Security Bank of Devine.
The remaining concerts of the series are: The Rick Cavender Band on February 23 and the Mike Kasberg Quartet on March 30, 2019.
