Atascosa County active COVID-19 cases rising

“The count is going up,” says an exhausted Don Penny, Atascosa County Emergency Manager.
“There’s certainly a second wave coming through, and we cannot definitely say if it is because of the mask exemption or not,” Penny said. “But we do have a significant number of cases and some County employees being tested.”
After getting an exemption from the mask mandate for a short time, Atascosa County is now back to masks required.
On November 16, they announced, “We have been informed by the Texas Department of Emergency Management that our exemption status from Texas Executive Order GA-29 has been revoked. Our ‘New Positive COVID-19 Cases’ count has exceeded the maximum number for us to remain on the list, therefore all Atascosa County businesses and citizens must follow the mask mandate rule once again.”
