Arabians spank Lady Eagles 3-0, wait for Floresville showdown!

Setters are often called the “quarterbacks” of the volleyball team because what they do is so key. Setting up the powerful Arabian offense are talented setters #5 Kynedie Cruz (left) and #10 Kate Featherly (right). Photos by Brigid Howard.

A chance to tie for the District 29-4A Championship will be on the line for the Devine Arabian volleyball team October 24 in the DSAC. Devine defeated Pleasanton October 10 before having an open date October 13. If all went as planned against the Lady Bulldogs from Somerset last night and if the Arabians can take care of business against Pearsall October 20, the last game of district becomes one of the biggest magnitudes with a championship and the number one seed going into the playoffs on the line.

Devine ran its overall record to 27-14 after defeating the Lady Eagles 25-16, 25-20, 25-22 and bumped its District 29-4A mark to 8-1 at the same time.
“In the first set we started off slow but after the first full rotation we got into our groove and took care of the set,” Head Coach Leigh Anne McIver stated.  “We struggled to finish out sets in sets 2 and 3 but the girls regained their focus when they needed to take care of business. We did a good job covering our hitters as well and it was probably the most consistent serving game we have had in a while.”
