Antonia Rodriguez Resendez, passed away peacefully at her home in La Coste on August 23, 2018 at the age of 88 years. She was born September 2, 1929 in Crown, Texas to parents Gumesindo Rodriguez and Angelina Eguia Rodriguez. On November 30, 1959, she married Agapito Y. Resendez. They were blessed with almost 58 years of marriage at the time of Agapito’s death on July 1, 2017.
Antonia was a loving wife to her husband Agapito and devoted mother to their son, Ruben. For many years Antonia worked outside of the home for Kohlleppel Vegetable Farms. She also was a cook for Mario’s Café in Von Ormy. Antonia was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church and the Guadalupanos.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Gumesindo and Angelina Rodriguez; her husband, Agapito Y. Resendez; numerous brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Ruben R. and Mary Resendez of La Coste; grandsons, Ruben (Amalie) Resendez, Jr., of San Antonio, David (Celina) Resendez of San Antonio, Joseph (Kristina) Resendez of Somerset; great-grandchildren, Jocelyn, Katalina, Isabella, Daniel, Alexander, Adrian and Ryan; brother, Mario (Rosa) Rodriguez of San Antonio; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation was Sunday, August 26, 2018 starting at 5:00 p.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home, with the Holy Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection was Monday, August 27, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Interment followed at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Cemetery.
