Alta Rae Holmes was born on August 1, 1951 to Homer Lee Daniels and Alberta Lorraine (Turner) Orise in San Antonio, Texas. She passed into the hands of God on July 22, 2017.The funeral service was held at West Laurel Heights Baptist Church on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 11 a.m. with Reverend Willie Jackson officiating.
At a very young age she united with West Laurel Heights Baptist Church under the guidance of Rev. J.H. Carter. She received her formal education in the Edgewood School District graduating from Edgewood High School.
She wanted to serve her country and enlisted in the United States Army serving in the military for four years and traveling to various cities, states and countries before receiving an Honorable Discharge. Following her military service, she was employed at the United States Postal Service for 18 years.
Alta was preceded in death by her father and infant daughter. She leaves behind one daughter, Shana Holmes, two grandchildren, Treman and Deijah, mother Alberta Turner Orise; three brothers, Terry (Ann), Ira (Cat), and Daryl; four sisters, Lillian (Belvin), Margret, Karen and Sherrie (Atuah), nieces, nephews and other beloved family and friends.
Arrangements were directed by Carter-Taylor-Williams Mortuary of San Antonio.
