Adelina Salazar Gonzales, of Castroville, passed away on December 9, 2019 at the age of 89 years. She was born May 6, 1930 in Tobey, Texas to Abelardo and Sulema Corrella Salazar.
On December 23, 1957, Adelina married Ernest C. “Buddy” Gonzales at St. Matthews Catholic Church in Jourdanton, Texas.
Adelina taught at Medina Valley ISD for forty years at the Castroville Elementary School and retired in 1995.
Survivors include her daughter, Rebecca Ester Vasquez; grandchildren, Gilbert John Vasquez II, Gabriel John Vasquez and Venus Mari Vasquez; sisters, Beatrice (William) Charbonneau and Estella Puente; brothers, Roger (Teresa) Salazar and Alberto Salazar; sisters-in-law, Susie Villarreal, Sarah Gray and Mary Ester Gonzales; brothers-in-law, Fred (Maria) Gonzales and Roy Gonzales; twenty-one nieces and nephews as well as numerous great nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Adelina was preceded in death by her parents, Abelardo and Sulema Salazar; husband, Ernest C. “Buddy” Gonzales; son-in-law, Gilbert John Vasquez; sister, Hermencia Proffit; brothers, Jesus Salazar, Alfredo Salazar, Arturo Salazar and infant brother Esperion Salazar; brothers-in-law, Bob Gray, Joe Puente and Roger Gonzales and sister-in-law, Lupe Salazar.
Visitation will be Monday, December 16, 2019 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 9:30 am on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at St. Louis Catholic Church with the Mass of the Resurrection immediately following at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Salazar Cemetery in Jourdanton, Texas.
