7th Grade Fillys beat Carrizo Springs

Gold
The 7th Grade Gold Fillys hosted the 7th Grade Carrizo Springs team on Monday evening. A much improved Filly team played a quicker paced and much more aggressive game than they had to this point. The result was a 2 set victory at 23-18 and 21-19.
“This team is doing such a great job improving from day to day and game to game,” Coach Julie Oropeza said. “They have great attitudes and work ethic and it shows in the progress they are making.”
The Gold Fillys will play in Crystal City on October 7, at home against Hondo October 14, and then in Pearsall October 21.
Maroon
The 7th Grade Maroon Fillys played an exciting game against Carrizo Springs on September 23 in Devine.
The first set was won easily 25-3 due to 22 consecutive serves by Skylar Blanton and great play by her Filly teammates. Maddie DuBose put down 2 kills during the first set while Oakley Malone was credited with the assists.
Set 2 proved to be a little more challenging, but the Fillys were still able to take the victory 25-20.
“Strong defense, improved serving, and serve-receive were keys to the victory,” Coach Julie Oropeza said. “I couldn’t be more pleased with all they have done so far.”
The Filly Maroon team played in the La Vernia Tournament this past Saturday and Poteet on Monday. They will face Crystal City on October 7.
