Arabians beat Medina Valley in first home game

In their first home game of the season, the Varsity Arabians beat Medina Valley 56-47. Coming out aggressive and forcing early turn overs were key to this win. “We played a strong 2nd quarter as well taking a 16 point lead into halftime. When we came out of the half, we lost some of our aggressiveness and allowed Medina Valley to get back into the game. We were able to get our aggressiveness back up, and finish the 3rd quarter strong. We were able to hang on in the 4th quarter to get a good, solid win,” said Coach Jim Sessions.
Preslee Quinsenberry scored 13 points, Maddie Mata 11, Alissa Stehle and Macey Hein 9 each, Sierra Pompa 7, Ally Taylor 5, and Megan Runyan 2. The team shot 78% of their free throws. Scores by quarter: Q1 21-7, Q2 33-17, Q3 44-32, Q4 56-47.
With several games and practices as a team behind them, the Arabians are starting to come together. They will face Bandera on November 27th and then compete in the Marion tournament November 29th – December 1st. The Arabians will host their home tournament starting on December 6th. As of this game the Arabians are 5-1.
“We came out aggressive looking to score and getting in passing lanes on defense. This was a good win for us. We have played several games with little practice and the girls are showing improvement every game. The girls are working hard and playing with good effort and as a team. I am super proud of their effort and desire to get after it. I really think it’s going to be a fun season with this group,” state Coach Sessions.
