Defense was the key to the 7th grade Colts’ victory over Bandera last Thursday. The Colts combined Maroon and Gold teams held the Bulldogs to a shutout and the offense was able to score 14 points. At quarterback, Sam Guardiola ran the offense and was able to find Gabriel Esquibel for two touchdowns. It was Jonathan Weinkam who scored the two-point conversion after the first touchdown.
“I am very proud of the way the Colts competed in our 14-0 victory over the Bandera Bulldogs. For the second week in a row, our defense was the catalyst. Adrian Beltran, George Saenz, and Elijah Sanchez led the defense by making a number of plays to help secure the shut out. Our next opponent will be Comfort, which also beat Bandera. If we continue upward trajectory I like our chances,” stated Coach Quenton Sanders.
