Tid Bits

Last week in the Lytle P.D. work world … Officers responded to 52 calls for service and conducted 87 traffic stops. Of those 87 stops, 58 resulted in a citation and 29 were warnings.
We only had two property crimes reported last week. #1 – A construction company working in the new Rosewood Estates subdivision reported that a Bobcat Skid-Steer valued at $14,000 was taken between August 8th and August 10th. #2 – H.E.B. reported a shoplifter and your officers responded. A 16-year-old female juvenile was cited and released for theft; the value was $19. So, those thefts were on both ends of the spectrum.
Officers made four arrests last week. #1 – A traffic stop on FM 2790 N. resulted in the citation and release of a 60-year-old male for possession of drug paraphernalia. #2 – A traffic stop on Lytle-Somerset St. resulted in the arrest of a 33-year-old male for violation of a protective order (booked into the Atascosa Co. Jail). #3 – This was the juvenile from the H.E.B. theft. #4 – A traffic stop on Main St. resulted in the arrest of another 33-year-old male. He had an active warrant out of Bexar Co. for resisting arrest. He was also found to be a felon in possession of a handgun (booked into the Atascosa Co. Jail).

We enjoyed setting up a booth at the Lytle I.S.D. Convocation last Monday. We shared some Lytle P.D. logo items including sanitizers, pencils, and keychains. It was nice seeing fresh faces and a lot of employees who have been with the district for many years. I did a lot of talking while Sgt. David Lopez and Corp. Danny Robison did most of the work. So, I guess you could say it was just another normal day. They set up next to the city’s booth, so the city administrator (A.K.A. my boss) was close by so I had to be on my best behavior. I was reminded by the school that we haven’t submitted a door prize for the drawing in three years! I will work on something special for next year, a life-size poster of me or something unique along those lines.
Make plans to attend our National Night Out event in October; it will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 1st. (6:00 PM) at the Lytle Community Center on Priest Blvd. We will be providing free food, drinks, and snacks. These are always neat events. If your organization wants to set up a booth or sponsor part of the event feel free to send me an email. We usually have a great attendance, and since it is held inside, we don’t have to worry too much about the heat or if it rains. In addition to the police, we will have Lytle FD, Atascosa Co. EMS, and other public safety agencies represented.
We are still looking for solutions for the increased traffic around the Lytle Primary School and N. Prairie St. The addition of the new sidewalks has impacted where and how parents line up to pick up their kids. We request your patience as we evaluate options.
The most stressful event I had this week was replacing my cell phone, I only bought a new phone because my other one gave out. The cost of a phone is nuts, add in the insurance, etc. and it’s ridiculous. We are tied to them now, so you don’t have much of an option. We all have so many apps and passwords that need to be transferred over, I had anxiety thinking about what if all my stuff is lost during the transfer! My first cell phone was in a bag, I was cool. I could visit the food court at Ingram Park Mall, put my phone on the table, and enjoy my Steak Escape Philly cheese steak. It cost me too much per minute, so I didn’t call anybody. But watch out, after 9 PM and on weekends the minutes were “free”.
