The Lytle Varsity Pirates have started their season 1-2, all three games have been super competitive and head coach Arturo Vela highlighted how the boys have been competing no matter who was on the floor.
Lytle’s first two games of the season were road games, to start your season on enemy territory is an uphill battle but Vela said their mindset was to “stay together and be tough.”
“The mindset was to stay together and be tough,” Vela said. “Road games force you to be disciplined, and these early experiences will help us later when district road games get tight.”
In their loss to Lanier, Vela said the pressure applied by the Volks eventually got to the Pirates, disrupting their spacing and execution, and even preventing them from getting any touches in the paint.
